The VM1 has perhaps nicer "air" to it, but it sounds thinner all around. The MK4 sounds great and has more presence to it - something that can kick through in a mix better, while being easier to EQ. I've owned a TLM 103 and a MKH 416, but now I use a Sennheiser MK4 in my studio and it's one of my favorite mics out there. Works great with clean or character preamps as well. Thanks for doing this.
